Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art, combat sport, and self defense system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. The founders, Carlos and Helio Gracie, customized Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and Judo to create the art. BJJ is designed to teach a person how to defend themselves from an opponent, no matter their size, using leverage and proper technique. BJJ focuses on submissions, either joint-locks or chokeholds from the ground, without using strikes.

You don't need to be the strongest, biggest, fastest or the best to advance and succeed.
